1) Where is my son/daughter going to sit?

2) How long is the Commencement ceremony?
School of Continuing Studies: Approximately - 1 ½ hours
Law: Approximately - 2 hours
Undergraduate: Approximately - 2 ½ hours
Baccalaureate: Approximately - 1 hour
3) What is the dress code?
Business casual is suggested under the gown. Please note that is does get warm inside the Robins Center. Shorts, halter tops, etc., are not acceptable. Appropriate shoes should also be worn - please note that black or dark color shoes go best with the black gown - no bare feet, flip flops, running shoes, etc. *Please be careful with high heels as you will be going up and down steps to the stage.
NOTE: Your academic gown will hang approximately 10" from the floor.
4) What is the Baccalaureate Service?
Our Baccalaureate Service is an inter-religious worship service which celebrates the gifts of the senior class and asks for blessings upon their future endeavors. Members of the senior class will read from the sacred scriptures from a variety of traditions, as well as share their gifts of oratory and music. The Chaplain, Kate O'Dwyer Randall, Acting Chaplain to the University, will preach, and Dr. Edward Ayers, President of the University, will greet graduates and their families. All are welcome to attend.
5) Where is the handicapped seating?
Seating on the upper ambulatory level of the Robins Center is available for persons with disabilities. The seats will be mark with a handicapped label.
Persons in wheelchairs will have places available at two of the corner entrances on the upper ambulatory level so they may remain in their chairs.

6) Where is handicapped Parking?
Millhiser parking lot by the track next to the Robins Center has been designated as disabled parking. An officer will be on hand to assist guests and make appropriate arrangements if necessary. You must have an official DMV handicapped tag to park in this lot.
7) Where can I park?
Parking will be available throughout campus.
8) Where do I meet my son/daughter after the ceremony?
We recommend that you and your graduate determine, in advance, a place to meet immediately following the ceremony.
9) Where do I find restrooms?
Restrooms are located on the ambulatory level of the Robins Center.
10) Can I take a picture of my son/daughter while they are getting their diploma?
There will also be a professional photographer there from Candid Color and they will send the proof to you with option of purchasing.

11) Where is the best place to sit for the Candlelight service?
The Boatwright library lawn offers an advantageous viewing location. Seating is not provided so you may wish to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
12) What is student check in?
Will be located in the Weinstein Center for Recreation and Wellness for the Sunday Ceremony. All graduates need to check in at that tent before entering the Robins Center for lineup. This area will become congested. Families are asked to enter the Robins Center and locate seating. Your cooperation in this matter will help this process move along more quickly.
13) Can I purchase a DVD or VHS of the Ceremony?
Yes, you will find an order form in the back of the brochure you received at home or you may pick up an order form on the ambulatory level on the vendor table. You may also go to our website and print one off.
14) First Aid
A rescue squad will be stationed outside the front entrance of the Robins Center during the Commencement ceremonies.
