COVID Precautions

The health and safety of our community continues to be our top priority. Commencement will adhere to state guidance as designated by Governor Northam including masks, physical distance and a strict cleaning and santization of all spaces.

This Commencement plan is final unless a more restrictive phase is deemed necessary due to state, regional, or campus-specific COVID-19 concerns.

Health and Safety

Public Health Guidance will continue to inform our planning. Current precautions for ceremonies include but are not limited to the following:

  • Masks are required over nose and mouth
  • 6 feet of physical distance in between each grouping (1 graduate with up to two guests who are seated together)
  • Visible markings will be installed for designated for graduate and guest areas
  • Hand sanitizing stations throughout venue
  • Touchless entry and assigned seats for graduates and guests
  • Full arena cleaning and sanitization in between ceremonies
  • Attendee (graduates and their guest(s)) names and addresses will be collected via ticket reservation system to facilitate contact tracing, if necessary, for all attendees
  • Condensed ceremony times
  • Capacity limitations for ceremony venues
